Merve Kıyak (1981) completed her BA and MA in Communication Sciences at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Communication. She worked as a producer and editor in the visual arts. She also completed her MA in the Painting Department of Yeditepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts. She completed her thesis on "The Effects of World War I on German Expressionist Painting" with Prof. Dr. Burcu Pelvanoğlu.
She graduated from the Proficiency/PhD program in Plastic Arts and Painting at Yeditepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2025. She completed her doctoral thesis, titled "Factors in the Formation of Hybrid Art and Its Emergence in the Context of 20th-Century Art Trends," under the supervision of Prof. Devabil Kara.
The artist continues her painting work in her own studio in İstanbul.
